Creativity Wake Up Call
Posted by Intuitive Coach under: Business Growth; inspiration .
Are the seasons a little mixed up where you are? Here in Southern California, it’s definitely feeling like Spring. The calendar says February but honestly, it feels much more like April to me.
The breeze carries hints of blossoms, especially the incredibly heady scent of mock-orange trees and of vines laden with jasmine, also known as “wedding bouquet.” Flowers are bursting out everywhere it seems. Brilliant hot pink ice plant adorns many of our freeway interchanges. The sunny yellow mustard grass covers Irish-green hillsides while purple lupin and mountain lilac bushes show off their royal colors. Daffodils, irises, freesias, tulips and paper whites have been proudly waving their lovely colors for a few weeks now and are almost past their peak. We’re still getting a few rainstorms here and there, and the occasional “Alaskan Express” reminds us that, indeed, it still is winter. And yet, as the days grow longer and the sunlight grows stronger, we really notice the seasonal shift.
As Nature begins to shake off the long slumber of winter, so too do we humans begin to emerge from our own kind of hibernation. Perhaps you feel a surge of creativity pouring through you these days. Or maybe you’re feeling the urge for more physical activity so you step up your fitness. Many people report they are going into “organizing mode” and finally clearing out the clutter they’ve been drowning in, or revamping closets, garages, pantries and cupboards.
The business world is affected too. Companies like Staples and Office Depot report an increase in sales of office supplies related to organizational needs –things like storage containers, label makers and file folders – fly off the shelves in the first quarter.
The first quarter of the year is also the perfect time to plan product launches and develop marketing campaigns because creative thinking is at its highest point in the first three or four months of the year. The wise business owner knows that planning sessions held in February and March frequently yield the most successful campaigns.
This is also the time of year when many people feel the itch to move on. If your career or line of work is not exactly going the way you had thought it would, this is the most common time of year to put plans in motion to make a change. Whether you reinvent yourself in a whole new calling or simply change jobs, start a new business or begin investigating how to do so, now is the time you’re most likely to do just that.
In our modern world of high technology and instant communication, our DNA is still imprinted with the laws of Nature. Even though we may be indoors all day at the office and never have a chance to sniff the breeze, the change in light and air is still palpable. Our bodies, minds and spirits respond to the sense of awakening.
Just for today, notice where you feel the awakening occurring. Bring that awareness into your work day and watch your creativity soar!

I can really relate to the surge of creativity, physical activity and clearing out the clutter. Good to know I’m in sync with the nature. Yes, sometimes it can be easy to lose our connection with nature.

Hi Pamela,
Thanks for commenting! Having connection with Nature is incredibly important as it actually helps with the body-mind-spirit integration process. Otherwise we might just live in our heads! It’s a challenge especially for those who have to work in giant skyscrapers to maintain their connection with Nature, so they have to make a truly conscious effort. The great thing about Springtime is you’re practically forced to notice. Everyone blossoms then!
Love and Light to you!
